In a bold move sure to stir debate among liberals, Florida plans to convert an old airport into “Alligator Alcatraz,” a massive detention center for illegal aliens, surrounded by natural deterrents like alligators and pythons.
See the tweet below this post.
Attorney General James Uthmeier’s innovative proposal will transform it into a facility capable of housing 1,000 criminal aliens, demonstrating the state’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws where the Biden administration has failed.
The proposed detention center, named for its strategic location and formidable natural security features, will be built on the 17,000-acre Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport.
This nearly abandoned facility sits deep in the Everglades, spanning an impressive 39 square miles and featuring a 10,500-foot runway that makes it ideal for processing illegal aliens.
AG Uthmeier highlighted the location’s practical benefits, noting that it provides a cost-effective solution for taxpayers while supporting federal immigration enforcement efforts.
The detention center aligns perfectly with Florida’s tough stance on illegal immigration and reflects Governor Ron DeSantis’s ongoing commitment to protecting his citizens from the consequences of the border crisis.
Under DeSantis’s leadership, the state has implemented some of the strongest immigration enforcement measures in the country, including the formation of the State Immigration Enforcement Council, which is comprised of sheriffs and police chiefs.
At the same time, the facility could be operational within just 30 to 60 days after construction begins, providing a rapid response to the illegal immigration crisis that has overwhelmed communities across America.
By housing up to 1,000 criminal aliens, the center will help relieve the burden on local law enforcement and ensure that those who have broken the law face consequences.
In addition, liberal Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has attempted to obstruct the project, citing environmental concerns in a transparent effort to prioritize illegal aliens over Florida citizens.

Despite opposition from the usual liberal environmentalist groups, Governor DeSantis appears to have taken control of the property. Plans for the detention center to be operational by July are in place.
This decisive action proves the administration’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and protecting Florida’s sovereignty in the face of federal inaction.
The project comes as immigration raids have increased throughout Florida, with a notable operation in Tallahassee recently gaining national attention.
These enforcement actions, coupled with the new detention facility, send a clear message that Florida will not be a sanctuary for those who enter the country illegally.
Uthmeier has consistently urged local officials to cooperate with ICE, highlighting tensions with some county sheriffs who have resisted federal immigration enforcement efforts.
Ultimately, the “Alligator Alcatraz” project represents a significant step forward in Florida’s comprehensive strategy to address illegal immigration and support the incoming Trump administration’s promised deportation efforts.
