An alarming shooting incident disrupted the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, claiming two innocent lives at the iconic Bellagio Fountains landmark.

The suspect, 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz, turned himself in to police after the deadly attack that stemmed from a social media dispute.

The shooting occurred at night around 10:40 p.m., sending tourists scrambling for cover at one of Las Vegas’s premier attractions.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were patrolling nearby when they heard gunfire and quickly responded to find two victims with gunshot wounds on the sidewalk.

Even though the officers’ immediate efforts to administer emergency aid, both victims died at the scene.

The Clark County Coroner’s office will release the identities of the deceased after proper notification of family members.

Ruiz faces two counts of murder with a deadly weapon after surrendering at a Henderson Police station.

According to law enforcement, this was not a random act of violence but an isolated incident resulting from an ongoing dispute.

“The suspect and victim had previously engaged in some type of conflict using a variety of social media platforms,” Undersheriff Andrew Walsh told reporters.

Furthermore, witnesses reported seeing the shooter discard the weapon in nearby bushes before fleeing the scene. Police later recovered the gun as evidence.

Multiple sources of video surveillance aided the investigation, including footage from a Zoox robotaxi with exterior cameras present during the shooting.

A video allegedly showing the shooting circulated on social media, though authorities have not confirmed its authenticity.

The footage reportedly shows people taking cover as shots rang out across the normally festive tourist destination.

Las Vegas Boulevard was closed at Flamingo Road until approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday as investigators processed the crime scene.

This latest incident raises serious questions about security on the Las Vegas Strip, where millions of tourists gather annually.

Likewise, police quickly emphasized that the shooting did not occur inside any casino.

Still, the fact that such violence could erupt at one of the city’s most recognized landmarks demonstrates the challenges of maintaining public safety in heavily trafficked tourist areas.

The LVMPD is continuing to investigate and has asked anyone with information to contact their Homicide Section or Crime Stoppers.

In an area with countless surveillance cameras and witnesses, detectives are likely building a comprehensive timeline of events leading up to the tragic shooting.

As social media platforms continue to connect people across distances, the potential for conflicts to spill over into physical confrontations remains a concerning trend for law enforcement nationwide.
