Vance to Newsom: ‘Go Look In the Mirror’

JD vance in suit.

Vice President JD Vance blasted Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) for blaming President Trump for the violent ICE riots in Los Angeles, challenging Newsom to “look in the mirror” instead of pointing fingers at the administration.

See the tweet below this post.

Vance shared photographic evidence contradicting Newsom’s claims that federal intervention caused the unrest, calling out the governor’s failed policies that prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens.

The heated exchange between Vance and Newsom escalated after President Trump authorized the National Guard to quell violent anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

Trump did not hold back in criticizing California’s leadership, suggesting that Newsom should be arrested for doing a “terrible job” managing the state.

Newsom quickly fired back, claiming the Trump administration’s actions had escalated the violence rather than resolved it.

The California governor expressed shock at Trump’s comments, calling it “a day he hoped never to see in America.” But Vance was not having any of it.

Taking to social media, Vance shared photographic evidence of rioters attacking cars and causing chaos before any federal forces were deployed, directly contradicting Newsom’s narrative that Trump had caused the problems.

“If you want to know why illegal aliens flocked to your state, stop accusing Donald Trump. Look in the mirror…” Vance wrote on X.

“The problem is you,” Vance told Newsom, adding that the governor and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass had effectively encouraged the riots through their permissive policies.

Moreover, Vance did not stop there, going after Newsom’s record of protecting illegal aliens from law enforcement while offering them generous welfare benefits at taxpayer expense.

Vance also highlighted how Newsom extended Medicaid to illegal aliens in 2024, potentially at the expense of impoverished and disabled Californians who truly need assistance.

Vance argued that such policies have encouraged mass migration into California, creating unsustainable public service and safety pressures.

Even Democrat US Senator John Fetterman (PA) broke ranks with his party to condemn the events in Los Angeles, calling on fellow Democrats to take action against what he described as “anarchy and true chaos.”

Fetterman’s comments underscored the growing concern that progressive policies in cities like Los Angeles have gone too far in prioritizing ideology over public safety.

President Trump claimed victory over the protesters, stating his decision to deploy federal forces prevented Los Angeles from “burning to the ground.”

The exchange between Vance and Newsom may offer a preview of future political battles, as Newsom is term-limited as governor in 2026 and appears increasingly interested in national politics.

For now, the Trump administration’s decisive action in Los Angeles has demonstrated that when local Democrat leaders fail to maintain order, federal intervention becomes necessary to protect American citizens.
