Former racing star and outspoken conservative Danica Patrick took a stand on transgender athletes by supporting Riley Gaines in the debate over transgender athletes in women’s sports.

Patrick slammed the “woke mind virus” infecting sports and praised Gaines for standing firm against biological males competing in women’s categories despite fierce criticism from gymnast Simone Biles and others.
The controversy ignited when Gaines criticized the Minnesota State High School League for disabling comments on a post about a girls’ softball team that included a transgender athlete.
Biles quickly attacked Gaines, accusing her of being a “sore loser” who should create a separate transgender category rather than advocate for biological distinctions in sports.
Patrick, who has previously supported President Trump, did not hesitate to defend Gaines on Instagram.
She expressed confidence that traditional values would ultimately triumph over radical gender ideology in sports.
“This issue has a shelf life. I truly believe common sense will prevail. But until then, I am grateful for people like Riley Gaines who are making sure no one gets away with it. Not to mention the fact that she actually lived it,” Patrick wrote.
She added that “defending men in women’s sports is the woke mind virus and/or another issue that requires therapy. Either way, it is so irrational.”
Gaines, who became a prominent advocate after being forced to compete against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in 2022, has maintained that biological males have no place in female competitions.
When Biles suggested that Gaines should “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male,” Gaines responded by measuring her own height.

This highlighted the physical differences between men and women at this debate’s core.
Patrick’s perspective carries particular weight as she spent her career competing directly against men in motorsports.
Unlike gymnastics, where separate divisions exist because of the obvious physical differences between the sexes, Patrick succeeded in a sport where women and men compete together.
Yet, she still recognizes the importance of sex-based distinctions in most athletic competitions.
Meanwhile, Gaines has emerged as a powerful voice for biological women in sports, transitioning to political commentary and earning praise from President Trump for her courage.
In her response to Biles, she reminded the gymnast of her past efforts against abuser Larry Nassar, questioning how Biles could now take a position that many see as endangering women’s safety and opportunities.
“It’s not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces. You can uplift men stealing championships in women’s sports with YOUR platform. Men don’t belong in women’s sports and I say that with my full chest,” Gaines wrote.
The online battle between these prominent female athletes reflects the larger cultural struggle happening across America.
As conservatives fight to preserve women’s rights and spaces against progressive gender ideology, figures like Patrick and Gaines demonstrate that standing for biological reality requires courage in today’s cancel culture.
While the left pushes for transgender inclusion at all costs, these women are drawing a line to protect the future of female athletics for generations to come.
