Man Sentenced to Castration!?

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – After admitting to the repeated rape of a teenager, a man from Louisiana has been given a severe sentence, which involves castration.

According to a statement from the local district attorney, 54-year-old Glenn Sullivan Sr. was convicted on April 17 of four counts of second-degree rape.

The investigation into Sullivan began in July 2022 following a report from a young woman who claimed that Sullivan assaulted her several times, starting when she was 14.

The repeated assaults resulted in pregnancy and a DNA test confirmed Sullivan as the father of her child.

Furthermore, Sullivan was accused of manipulating the victim and threatening her and her family to keep her silent.

Judicial District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux said in the news release, “So many of these types of cases go unreported because of fear.”

He continued, “[T]he strength it must have taken for this young woman to tell the truth in the face of threats and adversity is truly incredible.”

Established in 2008, Louisiana law allows the sentencing of physical castration for men convicted of specific rape offenses, although they can opt for chemical castration instead.

Sullivan, under the terms of his plea, is required to undergo physical castration.

According to the law, the process will be carried out by the state’s Department of Corrections but cannot be conducted more than a week before a person’s prison sentence ends.

This means Sullivan would not be castrated until a week before the end of his 50-year sentence—when he would be more than 100 years old.

“Sex crimes against juveniles are the most malicious crimes we prosecute,” Assistant District Attorney Brad J. Cascio, who prosecuted the case, said in the release.

“I intend on using every tool the legislature is willing to give us, including physical castration, to seek justice for the children in our community,” he concluded.
