(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a mysterious turn of events that has created uncertainty among a community, the suspected skeletal remains of a 19-year-old farmer, who vanished during Memorial Day weekend in 2022, were just found in a remote spot in Utah.

The 19-year-old, Dylan Rounds, was allegedly murdered by his 60-year-old neighbor, James Brenner, who was living unlawfully — squatting — in a trailer near the teen’s land in a small desert community near the Utah-Nevada border.

The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, “On April 9, 2024, skeletal remains presumed to belong to Dylan Rounds were recovered in the remote western Box Elder County area of Lucin.”

In order to collaborate with the authorities and as part of his plea deal, Brenner led investigators to Rounds’ burial spot.

Expressing gratitude, Rounds’ mother, Candice Cooley, stated, “We thank everyone for their support and love. We are grateful we now have Dylan’s body and can bring him home as we continue our fight for justice.”

Brenner has bееn in custody since June 2022 after being arrеsted for firearms violations and later charged with Rounds’ death.

In March 2023, Brenner faced charges of aggravated murder and abuse or desecration of a human body, both felonies.

A source obtained court documents, which revealed that Brenner and another local were known as “family friends” of Rounds, squatting on land around five miles from the teen’s farm.

The last time the teenager communicated with his grandmother was on May 30, when he told her he was “putting the grain truck into shelter.”

Moreover, initial searches uncovered the missing grain truck and a pair of bloodied boots, which DNA analysis linked to Rounds. Further investigation revealed Brenner’s possession of firearms despite his criminal history.

Interviews and search warrants unveiled firearms and Rounds’ phone records, which indicated Brenner’s involvement in the disappearance.

“Our hearts go out to the family of Dylan Rounds,” the sheriff’s office expressеd.

“We offer our sincerest condolences for the loss of their family member. We understand that the pain of their loss is immeasurable, and we want to express our deepest sympathies to them. It is our hope that they can find peace moving forward,” the sheriff’s office concluded.
