According to authorities, a 36-year-old man was arrested after the police arrived at the scene 22 later and tasered him while eyewitnesses recounted seeing the suspect running through the area with a sword.

At a press conference at the scene, Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell said the boy’s family was getting help from specialist officers during this “unimaginably difficult time.”

He also added that “the events this morning are truly horrific. My thoughts are with the injured, their families, and the broader community.”

He acknowledged that there would be a natural urge for answers about what happened and assured that officers were hustling to “establish the full facts.”

Likewise, the Metropolitan Police reported a vehicle crashing into a house in the Thurlow Gardens zone before multiple stabbings happened right around 07:00 BST.

Chief Bell mentioned that two Met officers were significantly injured in the hospital and needed surgery but not life-threatening, and three civilians were also taken to the hospital.

“We do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the wider public and we are not seeking any other persons.” Bell asserted.

Moreover, he added that the attack was not considered to be terror-related and was not a “targeted” attack.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, held a separate press conference and stated that more police officers would be around the area in the upcoming days.

“I’m sure I speak for the entire city when I say our thoughts are with this young child and his family,” he expressed.

“It breaks my heart not only that this child has lost his life, but two members of our emergency services have risked their own safety to make sure others weren’t injured.”
