BREAKING: DeSantis Raises the White Flag of Surrender

( – BREAKING NEWS NOW: In a clear sign that he has surrendered to critics who say he better act fast if he has any chance of saving his faltering presidential campaign, Governor Ron DeSantis has replaced campaign manager Generra Peck with his former chief-of-staff, James Uthmeier.

James Uthmeier, who previously served in the Trump administration and as DeSantis’s general counsel, told the Messenger, “People have written Governor DeSantis’s obituary many times. From his race against establishment primary candidate Adam Putnam, to his victory over legacy media-favored candidate Andrew Gillum, to his twenty-point win over Charlie Crist, Governor DeSantis has proven that he knows how to win. He’s breaking records on fundraising and has a supporting super PAC with $100 million in the bank and an incredible ground game. Get ready.”

Generra Peck, now transitioning to the governor’s chief strategist role, voiced her endorsement for Uthmeier. She remarked to the Messenger, “Governor DeSantis is running one of the most aggressive early state campaigns in modern history. Our organization welcomes the best of the best and James is one of my closest colleagues and friends — we are better for his joining and providing day to day leadership. This team is built to last and built to win.”

This reshuffling follows shortly after DeSantis’s presidential campaign laid off numerous staff in late July, a move seen in light of DeSantis’s challenges in polling against former President Donald Trump.

This raised eyebrows regarding the campaign’s allocation of donor funds. Among those released from the campaign during this period were about ten event coordinators, along with the exit of senior campaign advisors Dave Abrams and Tucker Obenshain.

Regarding the campaign’s restructuring, the then-campaign manager Peck officially stated, “Following a top-to-bottom review of our organization, we have taken additional, aggressive steps to streamline operations and put Ron DeSantis in the strongest position to win this primary and defeat Joe Biden. Gov. DeSantis is going to lead the Great American Comeback and we’re ready to hit the ground running as we head into an important month of the campaign.”
