(GoRealNewsNow.com) – BREAKING NEWS NOW: With former President Donald Trump having come to his defense, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was just acquitted of all charges in his impeachment trial.

Specifically, the trial to impeach Ken Paxton, the Republican Attorney General of Texas, concluded on Saturday. The state senators eligible to vote decided against his removal from office.

In late May, the Republican-majority state House had impeached Paxton over various allegations, including corruption, bribery, and obstruction. These charges were in connection with the FBI’s inquiry into Nate Paul, a real estate developer and donor to Paxton. The senators, serving as the jury, voted for his acquittal, as revealed by the live broadcast of the trial.

The live broadcast also indicated that the senators acquitted Paxton on the first ten impeachment articles and articles 15 to 20. To secure Paxton’s conviction and subsequent removal from office, at least two-thirds of the 30 eligible senators needed to sustain a single article out of the 16 presented.

Following Paxton’s acquittal, the Senate dismissed articles 11 to 14, which had been set aside for future deliberation, through a motion, as stated by the trial livestream. Angela Paxton, Ken Paxton’s wife and a Republican state senator, was obliged to attend the trial but was not allowed to vote.

During the first day of the trial, Paxton pleaded not guilty to all 16 articles. His defense team worked to undermine the case brought by the prosecution, primarily using evidence. Testimonies from former staff, whistleblowers, current employees, and other key witnesses played a central role in the trial.

Ahead of the final verdict, former President Donald Trump voiced his support for Paxton. Paxton subsequently highlighted this endorsement on social media platforms.

“Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was easily re-elected last November, but now establishment RINOS are trying to undo that Election with a shameful impeachment of him,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “Who would replace Paxton, one of the TOUGHEST & BEST Attorney Generals in the Country? Could it be a Democrat, or even worse, a RINO? The voters have decided who they want! Democrats are feeling very good right now as they watch, as usual, the Republicans fight & eat away at each other. It’s a SAD day in the Great State of Texas!”

Paxton, who served in both houses of the Texas legislature, was first elected as attorney general in 2014. He was reelected in 2018 by a margin of 3.6 points and again in 2022 by nearly 10 points.

Next week, Paxton is scheduled to appear in an interview with Tucker Carlson, co-founder of the Daily Caller News Foundation, to discuss the impeachment trial.
