Trump Announces Mandate: ‘We Want More Babies’

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – As part of his America-first agenda, GOP presidential candidate President Donald Trump announced that if elected, the federal government will help families access in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments, as America needs more babies.

“I’m announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for, or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for, all costs associated with IVF treatments, fertilization for women,” Trump declared. “Because we want more babies, to put it very nicely.”

Trump also said that new parents will be allowed to deduct significant newborn expenses from their taxes.

The former president seems to be addressing a key issue Democrats, including Kamala Harris, have used since Alabama’s Supreme Court ruled in February that embryos created through IVF are considered children.

This decision was used by Democrats to portray Republicans as a threat to women’s “reproductive rights,” a view Trump and other GOP leaders have strongly opposed.

Moreover, Trump criticized the high costs of IVF treatments, which Forbes reported in 2023 can range from $15,000 to $30,000 per cycle, depending on the clinic and medication requirements. Medications alone can make up to 35% of these costs.

“We’re pro-family. Nobody has said that before,” Trump claimed. “But the IVF treatments are expensive. It’s very hard for many people to do it and to get it.”

Trump also emphasized that he has always supported IVF, contrary to Democrats’ claims. “But I’ve been in favor of IVF right from the beginning. If you talk to [Democrats], they’ll say, ‘Oh, he really doesn’t like it.’ They have ads that I’m against it. It’s just the opposite.”

In addition, the former president argued that the high costs of IVF treatments are out of reach for many families, especially those suffering from inflation, which he claims was caused by the current administration.

The GOP has taken a more moderate stance on abortion since the Supreme Court ended the federal right to the procedure in June 2022. Trump supports a 15-week abortion limit and has rejected claims by Harris and other Democrats that he wants a nationwide federal abortion ban.

In turn, Trump stated he plans to vote for a proposed constitutional amendment in Florida aimed at overturning the state’s six-week abortion ban, as he believes the limit should be more than six weeks.

The proposed Amendment 4 would restrict abortions before fetal viability, generally around 23-24 weeks.
