(GoRealNewsNow.com) – During a town hall in Flint, Michigan, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump provided new dramatic details about the capture of the wannabe assassin who tried to shoot him last weekend.
Trump shared that a woman who thought the suspect “looked like trouble” took photos of him, which helped lead to a quick arrest.
At the town hall, Trump and Arkansas GOP Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders revealed information not previously made public.
He praised the Secret Service agents who spotted the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, hiding in the bushes at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Routh had allegedly set up a sniper’s nest, waiting for Trump during his golf round.
“Only consequential presidents get shot at,” Trump remarked, calling the situation a “miracle.”
When Routh was spotted and fired upon by a Secret Service agent—Trump estimated four shots—he ran away. According to the former president, a woman noticed him running.
“She started following him because she thought he was trouble. He looked different, like trouble. She followed him and parked the car behind his car and started taking pictures of his license plate,” Trump said.
“Who would do that? She saw something in this guy that was bad,” he added.
Trump acclaimed the woman’s quick thinking:
“If you took 1,000 of these incidents, would even one person do it? She sends pictures to the sheriff’s office … and they were able to get this guy within 10 minutes in a high-speed chase. She was really amazing.”
He also commended the Secret Service for their work, noting that an agent had spotted a gun barrel sticking out from the bushes. “They do need more people, they’ve been complaining about that for a long time but they did a great job,” Trump stated.
In addition, the GOP leader confirmed he received a call from his opponent in the upcoming election, Democrat Kamala Harris. “Got a call from Kamala today. It was very nice,” he said, adding, “she couldn’t have been nicer.”
He also referenced the assassination attempt on his life in Pennsylvania in July, stating, “It’s dangerous business being president.”
