(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a tragic and hard-to-believe event, soccer player Septain Raharja lost his life after being hit by lightning during a game on Saturday.

See the video below.

The match was between FBI Subang and 2 FLO FC Bandung at Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung, West Java as reported by PRFM News. A sudden flash of bright light from a lightning strike was captured on video, leading to Raharja’s collapse on the field.

The 35-year-old player suffered severe burns from the strike. Although he was still breathing when he was hit, he was quickly taken to a local hospital where he sadly passed away.

The lightning strike originated from a cloud about 300 meters above the field, detailed by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency in Indonesia, according to OutKick.

Following Raharja’s death, several soccer teams and his club paid tribute to him, marking their respect with moments of silence and posting condolences on social media platforms.

Shockingly, incidents of soccer players being struck by lightning are not unheard of in the sport. For instance, last year in Brazil, a 21-year-old player, Caio Henrique de Lima Goncalves of Uniao Jaiirense, also met his end due to a lightning strike during a match in Parana, as per the Daily Mail. He collapsed on the field and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

That same lightning strike led to six other players being hospitalized. Additionally in 2023 a young U13 player in Indonesia was struck by lightning, causing cardiac arrest and unconsciousness for 20 minutes though he survived reported by OutKick.
