(GoRealNewsNow.com) – After the brutal murder of Rachel Morin in the hands of an illegal alien, her mother slammed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for calling her daughter an “individual” instead of using her name.
“It’s a completely political statement because they’re not even willing to acknowledge that she was a mother, a daughter,” Patty Morin stated. “It totally depersonalizes her and makes her an object.”
She also revealed that no one from the Biden administration has contacted her grieving family since her daughter’s alleged killer was arrested.
23-year-old Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, an alleged Salvadoran gang member, was recently arrested for allegedly murdering the 37-year-old mother of five on a hiking trail in Harford County, Maryland.
Earlier this week, Mayorkas appeared on CNN and was asked about Rachel’s murder and the criticism of the administration’s policies for violent crimes committed by migrants. He referred to Morin as “the individual” in his reply.
“First and foremost of course our hearts break for the children, the loved ones and the friends of the individual who was murdered — the woman, the mother,” Mayorkas told Jim Acosta.
“A criminal is responsible for the criminal act,” he added. “The criminal who committed this heinous act should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and forcefully so.”
Despite he tried to express his condolences, his response angered Morin’s family.
Morin family attorney Randolph Rice said during an interview on “The Ingraham Angle, “They just seem to be disconnected completely from what is happening at the southern border and how it is affecting Americans.”
According to investigators, Rachel was snatched off the Ma and Pa hiking Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, and dragged into the woods and her body was found in a culvert on August 6.
Martinez-Hernandez was already wanted for a previous killing in El Salvador and for assaulting a mother and young girl in a brutal home invasion in Los Angeles.
In addition, he had been living in the country illegally since crossing through Mexico in 2023, and he has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape in her death.
