(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Parents have always struggled to properly educate their children, but what this mother did to her own blood and flesh goes beyond a “reasonable” punishment for misbehavior.

In Alabama, a mom reportedly ended up driving over her seven-year-old kid after she supposedly made him walk home from school as a punishment. The New York Post shared this shocking incident.

Sarai Rachel James, 27, supposedly ran over her son on Feb. 8 after making him walk or run home as a consequence for causing trouble at his school in Boaz. The principal at the school informed the mom about her son’s behavior, leading her to decide on this punishment.

According to reports, James followed or drove alongside her son after making him leave the car about eight blocks away from their house. Before reaching home, the boy tried to grab the car’s door handle while the car was moving slowly, but his mom sped up, causing him to be dragged under the vehicle, as per Boaz Chief of Police Michael Abercrombie.

“He may not have realized he was doing that,” Abercrombie commented regarding the mother’s actions.

Following the incident, the child was taken to the University of Alabama hospital, where he was treated for abrasions on his back and head. The police chief mentioned, “God watched over him.”

James was taken into custody and charged with aggravated child abuse. She’s now prohibited from contacting her son and was released on a $50,000 bond a few days after her arrest. Another woman in the car, aged 53, faces a misdemeanor charge for endangering the welfare of a child and was released on a $500 bond.
