(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Following interviews with top contenders at her Washington, D.C., home over the weekend, Kamala Harris is ready to pull the trigger and announce her running mate by Tuesday.

According to two sources, the announcement could happen any time before Harris makes her first public appearance with the vice-presidential nominee on Tuesday in Philadelphia.

The sources said they would then start a cross-country tour of key battleground states that could decide the election.

Kamala completed her search by interviewing three leading candidates: Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA). These interviews took place at her Naval Observatory residence in Washington on Sunday.

On Friday, the 59-year-old Democrat spent 90 minutes meeting with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and has also been connecting with other candidates virtually. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker are also in the mix for the position.

Kamala’s search for a running mate began in earnest only two weeks ago, following Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race and endorse her as his successor.

Moreover, choosing a running mate is a crucial decision for her, as she quickly assembles a campaign to challenge former President Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 election.

Her shortlist includes all white men with a strong record of appealing to rural, white, or independent voters.

Furthermore, Kamala met with her vetting team, including former Attorney General Eric Holder. His firm, Covington & Burling LLP, thoroughly reviewed the finances and backgrounds of potential running mates.

According to a campaign official, during their battleground states tour, Kamala and her new running mate will visit seven cities in five days: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Detroit, Michigan; Durham, North Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Phoenix, Arizona; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

They will hold rallies in each location, including college campuses, historically Black universities, union halls, and restaurants, the official said.

Additionally, her campaign recently launched a program to win over Republican voters, showcasing endorsements from former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye.

The new program, called Republicans for Harris, will kick off with events in the battleground states of Arizona, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania on Monday.

Republican surrogates will join Harris and her yet-to-be-named running mate at these events, combining grassroots organizing with paid media efforts to reach Republican voters.
