(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Although political strategists and energy experts say the sudden policy shift will do little to move the needle with key voters in November, Kamala Harris’ campaign suddenly backtracked about banning fracking.

In 2020, Harris was unequivocal about her opposition to fracking, stating that if elected president, there was “no question” she would end it.

However, following the resurgence of videos showing her anti-fracking stance after Joe Biden exited the 2024 race, her campaign said that she no longer seeks to prohibit fracking.

Political experts suggest this reversal might not convince important voter groups, especially in energy-rich states like Pennsylvania. These voters may still worry that Harris might intensify Biden’s climate policies, potentially harming local industries.

Jon McHenry, a GOP polling analyst, claimed, “She is going to find herself between a rock and a hard place on the issue of fracking, and also other issues like Gaza, too. She has all of her past statements, and the Biden-Harris administration record, which is against fracking and exports of liquefied natural gas.”

He continued, “And that’s great for her base supporters, the people who were upset about Joe Biden representing Democrats a couple weeks ago and are excited about Kamala Harris, who want her to ban fracking, and they’re excited to have a younger, more liberal candidate running for president.”

Moreover, McHenry further explained that Kamala has to win independents in states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona, who want to see more energy developed in the country and for it to become more energy-independent.

Despite the flip on fracking, Harris could potentially regain credibility by explaining her shift as a response to her experiences in the White House, such as the global energy implications of the Ukraine war.

Additionally, the issue of fracking and Harris’s energy policy could be particularly pivotal in Pennsylvania, a key swing state and major natural gas producer. This state’s outcome could be crucial in the 2024 election, with recent polls showing Harris slightly ahead of former President Donald Trump.
