Making waves across political and cultural landscapes, President Donald Trump has decided to fire the Librarian of Congress.
Trump fired Carla Hayden, removing the Obama appointee who has been criticized for promoting “woke” content and anti-Trump materials.
The abrupt termination ends Hayden’s controversial leadership of America’s oldest cultural institution and signals the administration’s commitment to rooting out officials who do not align with its America First agenda.
The White House delivered Hayden’s dismissal in a direct, two-sentence email from Deputy Director of Personnel Trent Morse that left no room for negotiation:
“On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service.”
President Obama appointed 72-year-old Hayden in 2016, making her the first woman and African American to hold the position.
During her tenure, she faced mounting criticism from conservative groups for allowing the prestigious institution to promote material contrary to traditional American values.

The American Accountability Foundation had specifically called out Hayden for promoting what they described as “radical” content and books by well-known Trump critics, labeling her administration as both “woke” and “anti-Trump.”
These concerns reflect growing frustration among conservatives about the politicization of cultural institutions under leftist leadership.
Hayden once said in an interview:
“Personally, being a person of color, it means so much because people who look like me were forbidden by law to learn to read. That means so much that here is a person of color leading the world’s largest library.”
While she frequently emphasized her identity politics credentials, the Library of Congress serves a crucial function beyond symbolic representation.
It houses millions of books, historical documents, and artifacts that tell America’s story and require responsible, non-partisan stewardship rather than ideological management.
As expected, Democrat leaders erupted with outrage following the announcement.
Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) praised Hayden as “accomplished, principled and distinguished.”
At the same time, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer suggested removing presidential appointment authority altogether, proposing that a congressional commission should select future librarians.
Robert Newlen, the principal deputy librarian, will serve as acting librarian until Trump nominates a permanent replacement.
The new leadership will have the opportunity to reorient the Library’s priorities toward preserving American heritage rather than advancing progressive social agendas.
Moreover, the move aligns with Trump’s broader strategy of ensuring government institutions serve all Americans rather than catering to elite progressive interests.
Since returning to the office, the President has systematically removed officials who do not share his vision for restoring traditional American values and limiting government overreach.
Democrats continue their predictable complaints about the President exercising his legal authority to make personnel changes.
Still, conservative groups have applauded the decision as necessary to return the Library of Congress to its original mission of preserving American history rather than rewriting it through a woke lens.
