He’s Back as a Supervillain

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Marvel Studios excitedly announced that Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr., known for his role as superhero Iron Man, is back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this time as a supervillain.

Downey is set for a dramatic comeback as the infamous supervillain Dr. Victor von Doom.

Marvel Studios revealed in an Instagram post that Downey will appear in “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is scheduled for release in May 2026, and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” set for May 2027.

The Russo brothers, who directed “Endgame” and other Marvel hits, will direct “Avengers: Doomsday.”

“Just announced in Hall H: The Russo Brothers return to direct Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Only in theaters May 2026. #SDCC,” Marvel Studios wrote.

Moreover, the news was first revealed at Comic-Con 2024’s popular Hall H panel on Saturday.

The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, announced that the MCU will soon feature its most iconic supervillain, played by one of its most beloved actors.

The company wrote in another post, “Robert Downey Jr. surprises Hall H to announce his return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, in theaters May 2026.”

Additionally, the Avenger’s likely leader also posted a photo on Instagram, wearing a green suit and holding the mask of his new villainous character.

“New mask, same task,” the actor captioned the photo.
