Beloved Actor’s Movie Bombs

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – After tanking as one of the year’s biggest flops, beloved actor Kevin Costner’s movie project, “Horizon: An American Saga,” is being yanked from theaters in late July.

Things keep spiraling down for Costner, who gambled his reputation and over $30 million of his own cash on the success of the “Horizon” movie franchise.

The first part of the four-part saga bombed at the box office and is now heading straight to streaming.

Opening on June 28, Forbes reported that the movie is already disappearing from most theaters. “Horizon” ends its theater run at No. 10 in the box office, failing to compete with summer hits like “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Initially, it seemed like no one wanted to go to the movies during the peak of summer, contributing to Costner’s failure.

However, with “Deadpool & Wolverine” raking in an estimated $205 million in ticket sales during its opening weekend, the issue likely lies with the movie’s subject matter.

“Horizon” barely made $28.8 million in the U.S. and just $2.1 million internationally.

Moreover, Costner seemed convinced he knew the Western genre better than Taylor Sheridan, the creator of his career-defining show “Yellowstone.”

He told fans he left the series right before its final season, citing vague reasons, probably banking on “Horizon” carrying him through his remaining time on screen.

But a new teaser for “Yellowstone” suggested Costner might have to reprise his role as John Dutton one last time. And he definitely owes this to the fans.

The only other option for Costner might be to use streaming services. “Horizon” is already available in a few places for a premium.

Maybe once the full film drops for free—or just the cost of a streaming service—he will see a resurgence. But it would have to be a pretty big one to recover his losses.
