A Horrifying Way To Die

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Dying in the most horrifying way, a mother in Northern California was tragically mauled to death, reportedly by a pack of Great Danes that had been roaming loose on a walking trail.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 56-year-old Davina Corbin was found by a neighbor just before 2 a.m. on Blackhawk Trail in Feather Falls.

Corbin’s body showed “numerous bite marks and injuries,” with her clothing covered in DNA matching domestic dogs. The medical examiner confirmed that her death was caused by a dog attack.

The sheriff’s office reported that she was discovered in front of a home where 25 Great Danes were freely roaming.

Moreover, investigators, armed with a search warrant, spent the day rounding up the loose dogs, who were then placed in the care of Butte County Animal Control. DNA from the dogs will be compared to the DNA found on Corbin to identify which of them were involved in the attack.

Max Heckler, a nearby resident, shared that he and others had repeatedly reported the unruly dogs to Butte County Animal Control.

“Nothing’s been done about it until now,” he said. “Wait until somebody gets killed by those dogs. That’s a tragedy that should have never, ever have happened, ever.”

In addition, Heckler recalled a close call he had with the dogs. “The Great Danes, they come across the road here at me,” he added. “I jumped in the car and left.”

He also criticized animal control for failing to act sooner. “What I’m saying is animal control is just as much at fault about that death as them dogs. They didn’t do anything about any of this,” he stated. “That lady should have never died.”

Additionally, Butte County Animal Control stated that they had received two calls about loose dogs and concerns about their health and diet, but no reports of aggression had been made.

While Corbin lived near the Blackhawk Trail and frequently walked there, investigators believe she was walking on the trail when the dogs attacked her.

Her family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses. “We’re struggling to come to terms with this loss and need help saying goodbye,” her son Justin Corbin wrote on the page.

As of this week, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
