The chants were initially punctuated by the cry, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” with participants prominently displaying Palestinian flags and placards, signaling the commencement of the protest. The demonstration attracted individuals from various parts of the nation.
That chant has been adopted with increasing frequency, especially after last month’s fatal confrontation initiated by Hamas in southern Israel, which was followed by Israel’s forceful reprisals in Gaza. The chant is embroiled in controversy accused of being antisemitic due to its implications of eradicating the State of Israel and its inhabitants.
Additional slogans included “Long live the Intifada,” referencing the Arabic term for Palestinian uprisings, particularly the violent conflicts spanning 1987-1993 and 2000-2005, which resulted in a high death toll.
As the protest procession moved through DC’s thoroughfares, a cluster of demonstrators positioned themselves outside the White House, vehemently urging President Biden to endorse a ceasefire—although the President was not present, staying at his vacation residence in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., some participants escalated their demonstration by defacing the White House gates with red paint and continuing their intense chants of “Allahu akbar” and “F–k Joe Biden,” as reported by a journalist from the Post.
Moreover, there was an individual who managed to climb the security barriers of the Executive Mansion and brandished a Palestinian flag, an act captured on video.
