(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a bewildering tragedy, a Florida plastic surgeon was arrested and he is facing a “manslaughter by culpable negligence” charge after his wife died following a surgery he performed on her.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office (SRCSO) arrested 41-year-old Dr. Benjamin Brown after an extensive investigation in conjunction with the District One Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office” into the November 28, 2023, death of Hillary Ellington Brown.

Hillary Brown suffered cardiac arrest at Brown’s hospital, Restore Plastic Surgery, on November 21, 2023. SRCSO deputies responded to the emergency and helped transport her to a local hospital, where she was placed on life support and later died.

While the investigation into Hillary Brown’s unexpected death began after she died, this type of investigation, warranted for unexpected or unusual deaths, typically takes several months.

According to the Pensacola News Journal (PNJ), the surgeon was operating on his late wife when she had seizures and then a cardiac arrest. The 911 call note indicated that she was “overmedicated.”

On November 24, 2023, Brown posted on social media: “We need prayers for a miracle. Hillary had a cardiac arrest on Tuesday afternoon. We called 911 and started CPR. Her heart came back but her brain is not doing well.”

“She has been in a coma since she went unconscious on Tuesday. Hillary Ellington Brown you are my soulmate, my world, my everything. Please come back. Please!” he continued.

Hillary’s father, Marty Ellington, expressed his grief and demand for answers: “We want answers. We haven’t been given answers. If it’s a mistake, it was a mistake, but it doesn’t bring my daughter back. I don’t want his money. I don’t want anything. All I want is an answer because I think that we owe that to my daughter.”

In addition, Marty and his wife Dixie reported that Brown told them he had run out of his usual medication and used a different one for Hillary. Marty questioned why Brown did not have more staff and emergency equipment available.

Former patient Wendy Carden claimed in an ongoing lawsuit that Brown used “foreign materials” in her post-mastectomy reconstructive breast surgery, leading to infection and sepsis.

Other patients made troubling allegations as well, with one stating, “[T]hat man has to be stopped.”
