(GoRealNewsNow.com) – BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Police in Pennsylvania have increased the number of officers involved in the urgent manhunt for an escaped convict who is guilty of murder.

During a media briefing, Lt. Col. George Bivens stated that the search force has been expanded as the manhunt reaches its 10th day. “We now have close to 400 people working on the case,” he revealed.

“We’re giving this a very hard push today,” Bivens commented. “And I’m optimistic. We’ll see how the day goes.”

This development follows reports by the Associated Press that a prison tower guard was dismissed for negligence that led to the prisoner’s escape, identified as Daniel Cavalcante. The identity of the fired guard has not been disclosed.

Law enforcement efforts are currently concentrated around Longwood Gardens, where sightings of Cavalcante have been reported.

Cavalcante, aged 34, absconded from Chester County Prison last week while he was in the process of being moved to a state-run institution. He was serving a life sentence for the 2021 fatal stabbing of his former girlfriend. Prosecutors claim Cavalcante committed the crime to prevent her from revealing to authorities that he was a fugitive wanted in Brazil.

Security camera footage captured Cavalcante climbing two parallel walls and pulling himself onto the prison roof. Notably, he used the same escape route as another prisoner, Igor Bolt, who had escaped from the same facility earlier this year.

“Cavalcante escaped at the same location as Igor Bolt,” said Howard Holland, the acting warden of Chester County Prison. “But for Cavalcante, there was razor wire to contend with before reaching the roof.”
