(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Marking a new chapter in the bombshell legal saga, a jury in Nevada found former county official Robert Telles guilty of the murder of Las Vegas journalist Jeff German in 2022.

German wrote several critical articles about Telles, which led to his tragic death.

The jury deliberated for nearly 12 hours after the trial and examined the evidence related to German’s stabbing death, which occurred over Labor Day weekend in 2022. A few days later, Telles was arrested as the prime suspect.

The 47-year-old former official was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years.

Before his death, German had reported on issues involving Telles, the former Clark County Public Administrator.

German’s articles detailed complaints about Telles’s office, including accusations of administrative bullying, favoritism, and an inappropriate relationship with an employee.

Furthermore, Telles lost his primary election in June 2022 shortly after some of German’s reports became public.

Prosecutors argued that German had fought back against his attacker, suggesting that Telles blamed German for harming his career.

In turn, prosecutor Christopher Hamner highlighted evidence during closing arguments, including DNA found under German’s fingernails that matched Telles’s, as well as footage of Telles’s SUV near German’s home on the day of the murder.

Telles testified last week, insisting he was innocent and denying involvement in German’s death.

“I didn’t kill Mr. German,” Telles said. “When I share an opinion with you, that’s my right.”

He concluded, “And it’s your right to decide whether or not you agree with my opinion or not, whether you want to doubt my opinion or not. I’m just hoping that I’m not stopped from sharing with you what I have to say.”
