Fauci Confesses; Social Media Explodes

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a mind-blowing live TV admission, Dr. Antony Fauci, who spearheaded the Biden administration’s repressive COVID-19 measures, acknowledged a giant new study showing face masks don’t work – but still tried to twist the conclusion to justify his failed policies.

Fauci, who retired at the end of last year as the highest-paid US civil servant of all time, was the White House Chief Medical Adviser and headed the National Institute on Allergies and Infectious Diseases for almost 40 years.

His admission about face masks and the attempt to water it down came during a live TV interview with CNN host Michael Smerconish.

Smerconish confronted Fauci about his long-time stringent face mask policies by quoting a wide-ranging study by Cochrane Library that found face masks of any type never worked to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Breitbart News reports.

“The most rigorous and comprehensive analysis of scientific studies conducted on the efficacy of masks for reducing the spread of respiratory illness, including COVID-19, was published last month. ‘Its conclusions,’ said Tom Jefferson, the Oxford epidemiologist who is the lead author, ‘were unambiguous,’” the CNN host said, reading out the report to Fauci.

“‘There is just no evidence that masks make any difference,’ he told the journalist Maryanne Demasi. ‘Full stop.’ But wait, hold on, what about the N-95 masks, as opposed to the lower-quality surgical or cloth masks? Makes no difference? ‘None of it,’ he said. Well, what about the studies that initially persuaded policymakers to impose mask mandates? ‘They were convinced by nonrandomized studies, flawed observational studies.’ How do we get beyond that finding of that particular review?” Smerconish quoted further.

Fauci replied by briefly agreeing but claiming that there was a difference between the face mask protection on the group level and the “individual level.”

“Yes, but there are other studies, Michael, that show at an individual level, for individual, when you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong,” the former pandemic czar stated.

“But when you talk about as an individual basis of someone protecting themselves or protecting themselves from spreading it to others, there’s no doubt that there are many studies that show that there is an advantage,” Fauci elaborated.

He claimed the Cochrane study was not about “an individual’s effect on their own safety,” which was “a bit different than the broad population level.”

The former White House adviser’s comments infuriated social media users and conservative figures, The New York Post reports.

“Fauci admits that masks don’t work for the public at large but still absurdly claims masks work on an individual basis. More subterfuge,” Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) wrote in an X post.
