Black Democrats Outraged

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom may have just kicked a hornet’s nest by appointing a lesbian black woman, a radical abortionist, to the United States Senate, as his choice has outraged many Black Democrats.

Two days after 90-year-old California US Senator Dianne Feinstein passed away, Newsom announced he was designating Laphonza Butler to serve the rest of Feinstein’s term until January 2025.

Butler, whose age is listed on Wikipedia as “44-45,” is the head of EMILY’S List, a radical pro-abortion PAC dedicated to helping elect female abortion advocates to government positions.

She previously served as a service union leader and a senior advisor to Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

Several “leading black Democrats” have slammed Newsom for appointing Butler instead of California US Rep. Barbara Lee, also a black woman, Breitbart News reports.

Lee is among the three current US Congress members seeking Feinstein’s seat in the 2024 election. Lee herself blasted Newsom for selecting Butler.

“If the Governor intends to keep his promise and appoint a Black woman to the Senate, the people of California deserve the best possible person for that job. Not a token appointment,” the congresswoman said in a statement.

The report points out that while Butler has previously lived in California and owns property there, she is still registered as a resident of Maryland.

Thus, to become eligible to fill Feinstein’s seat, Newsom’s designate would have to register as a voter in California first.

As Breitbart notes, Lee’s supporters appear to be particularly angered by the governor’s choice, quoting comments made to The San Francisco Chronicle.

“It’s going to hurt him,” declared Fred Jordan, chairman of the San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce board.

“Those women in South Carolina that gave Joe Biden the bump, they’re gonna be outraged,” he added.

Jordan asserted Newsom hadn’t “fulfilled his promise” to appoint a black woman as Feinstein’s replacement. He also attacked the governor for stating that appointing a person running for Feinstein’s seat would mean favoring a particular candidate.

Another black Democrat who slammed Newsom’s senatorial appointment was Molly Watson, deputy director of California Donor Table and a board member for the Black Women’s Democratic Club of Los Angeles County.

While congratulating Butler, who served on her group’s board, she said she was “baffled” that Lee wasn’t his pick.
