(GoRealNewsNow.com) – The Republican Party is on high alert following former President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt, as an armed man wearing a ski mask was arrested near the Republican National Convention (RNC).

Milwaukee police arrested an unidentified 21-year-old man for carrying an AK-47 pistol and magazine inside a tactical bag.

This happened a few blocks from the Fiserv Forum, where GOP lawmakers, delegates, and supporters have been gathering since Monday.

A source reported that Homeland Security Investigators and Capitol Police had been conducting surveillance near the convention’s perimeter when they noticed the man approaching.

While the 21-year-old suspect was arrested around 1 p.m., authorities said he did not have a concealed weapon license in Wisconsin or any other state. Charges are pending review from the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

Moreover, this arrest follows another incident where five Columbus Division of Police officers shot and killed resident Samuel Sharpe Jr. after he allegedly fought with another person a mile from the RNC on Tuesday.

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed the shooting “was determined to be non-RNC,” directing questions to Milwaukee and Columbus police.

Furthermore, President of the Fraternal Order of Police Capitol City Lodge No. 9, Brian Steel, stated no officers were harmed during the incident, and only Columbus authorities were involved.

Both incidents near the RNC come after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which resulted in the death of 50-year-old former volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore and injured two others, 57-year-old David Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver.
