According to some sources, Soros is ten years younger than Abedin and proposed about six weeks ago.
Abedin has worked with Hillary Clinton for several years in the White House, Senate, State Department, and private life.
She was previously married to Anthony Weiner, the former Democratic congressman who went to prison for sexting with a minor in 2017, the same year Abedin filed for divorce.
One source mentioned that after dealing with tough times, Abedin is now “relaxed and happy and in love.”
“The best way I can describe the relationship is effortless,” one of Abedin’s friends shared.
Meanwhile, Soros leads the Open Society Foundation (OSF) and Political Action Committee, a charitable organization that donates to liberal causes.
Last year, he was named heir to his father’s $25 billion OSF, signaling a shift toward more active political involvement and support for causes like abortion rights.
His father is worth an estimated $6.7 billion, according to Forbes and has given more than $30 billion to his foundation.
Additionally, the pair met last fall at a “mutual friend’s birthday party, where they quickly discovered their mutual interests in politics and public service,” another source reported.
They have made several public appearances, including this year’s Met Gala and at a White House state dinner.
Moreover, Soros confirmed the engagement on Instagram with a photo showing him proposing to Abedin. The caption reads: “This happened. We couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love.”
Earlier in February, Abedin posted a picture on Instagram from their Valentine’s Day date in Paris, France, publicly acknowledging their relationship.
Furthermore, the Daily Mail has previously described Alex Soros as a former “playboy heir” known for lavish parties and red-carpet appearances.
