(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a distressing development, the London Metropolitan Police (LMP) caught and charged a Colombian man with the murder of two elderly men whose body parts were found in suitcases left on an iconic bridge.

LMP reported that 34-year-old Yostin Andres Mosquera was allegedly a roommate with his two victims, 62-year-old Albert Alfonso and 71-year-old Paul Longworth, before their deaths.

Even though the two victims were previously in a relationship and despite initially labeling the incident as a hate crime, the police have not found any “homophobic motive in this case” so far.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said in a press release, “My thoughts are first and foremost with Albert and Paul’s loved ones who are coming to terms with this terrible news.”

Valentine also added that “the evidence gathered so far does not suggest there was a homophobic motive” to the killings.

“I hope it will be of some reassurance that whilst enquiries are still ongoing and the investigation is at a relatively early stage, we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the two murders,” the deputy added.

Additionally, Mosquera was taken into custody at a train station after leaving suitcases containing the bodily remains of Alfonso and Longworth on the Clifton Suspension Bridge Wednesday.

As per a report from CBS News, law enforcement also discovered additional remains at the victims’ residence.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge has a storied history. The outlet reported that it is among the oldest remaining suspension bridges on Earth.

English Heritage noted that Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a famous Victorian engineer, reportedly designed the bridge. The Victorian era in British history spanned from 1837 to 1901.
