(GoRealNewsNow.com) – After being accused of poisoning his wife with fentanyl, prominent Miami business titan Sergio Pino killed himself with a gun in his Coral Gables mansion during an FBI raid.

A SWAT team discovered 67-year-old Sergio Pino in an upstairs bedroom of his multimillion-dollar home in a gated Coral Gables community while collecting electronics, safes, and three boxes of documents.

32-year-old Tatiana Pino had alleged during their divorce proceedings that Pino repeatedly poisoned her with fentanyl. He was also under investigation for allegedly paying individuals to attempt her murder.

Pino’s lawyer, Sam Rabin, confirmed his suicide and criticized the law enforcement’s handling of the situation.

“Sergio Pino took his own life today. The level of law enforcement activity at his residence was unprecedented and unnecessary, especially since we had offered to surrender him should that have become necessary,” Rabin said.

He continued, “Today’s events mark a very tragic ending to an investigation that we were confident we could successfully defend. There were many rumors and allegations but what was lacking was evidence.”

Moreover, Tatiana reported experiencing breathing problems and other symptoms in 2022, alleging that fentanyl was found in her system by a doctor at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore

She suspected her husband of clandestinely administering the deadly opioid, claiming Sergio had financial motives for poisoning her. She filed for divorce in April 2022.

Last month, the FBI raided Pino’s Cocoplum estate and Coral Gables office in connection with threats against Tatiana’s life.

Sources familiar with the case told the Miami Herald that Pino allegedly enlisted a part-time worker, Bayron Bennett, from his yacht to hire three men to intimidate his wife following her divorce filing.

Additionally, Bennet and the three men face charges in Miami federal court related to an attempted vehicular attack at Tatiana’s Pinecrest residence and an arson incident targeting vehicles owned by her sister.

Security footage reportedly showed Tatiana arriving at her driveway in August 2023, when a rented Home Depot flatbed truck suddenly pulled out from behind, collided with the passenger side of her SUV, and speeded away.

Tatiana Pino’s attorney, Raymond J. Rafool, expressed the complexity of the divorce proceedings:

“In this already complex divorce, we have had to address the terrorism and the attacks on Tatiana’s life. It is truly terrible. Thankfully, the FBI is involved and working hard to keep Tatiana safe and bringing those responsible to justice.”
