(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a bombshell declaration, a White House official revealed that Joe Biden plans to propose term limits for Supreme Court justices and a constitutional amendment to counteract their recent presidential immunity decision.

Biden will announce these proposals during a speech today afternoon at the Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) Presidential Library, where he will also support a binding code of conduct for the justices.

“This nation was founded on a simple yet profound principle: No one is above the law. Not the president of the United States. Not a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. No one,” Biden wrote in an op-ed published Monday morning.

This marks a significant shift for Biden, who has long resisted progressives’ calls for Supreme Court reforms over fears of politicizing the court. Conservatives have portrayed this effort as an attack on the court’s 6-3 conservative majority.

Moreover, the 81-year-old Democrat has increasingly challenged the court, especially after it overturned constitutional abortion protections and granted criminal immunity to former presidents.

He hinted at this announcement in his recent Oval Office speech explaining his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

“I have great respect for our institutions and separation of powers. What is happening now is not normal, and it undermines the public’s confidence in the court’s decisions, including those impacting personal freedoms. We now stand in a breach,” Biden continued.

One part of Biden’s proposal responds directly to the immunity decision, which favored former President Donald Trump by affecting some of his criminal prosecutions.

Additionally, Biden will call for a constitutional amendment that would partially overturn the decision by making clear that former presidents do not have criminal immunity from federal indictments. The “No One Is Above the Law Amendment” would not apply to state indictments.

He will endorse a binding code of conduct for the Supreme Court, which has faced public pressure on its ethics standards following reports of Justice Clarence Thomas and others accepting lavish trips and gifts from billionaires.

In November, the court adopted an ethics code after months of closed-door discussions, but its lack of enforcement has drawn criticism from Democrats and watchdog groups.
