(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Just days after the family matriarch passed away and plans were made to sell the house, five people died in a murder-suicide on a quiet street in Nassau County.

According to police and sources, all the victims were shot inside a small blue house on Wyoming Court in Syosset.

The gunman, believed to be the son who lived there with his late mother, took his own life on the front lawn.

“The mom just died, and they were selling the house,” said Mary Macaluso, a local real estate agent. She was supposed to meet the relatives at the house around noon, but the street was already closed off by authorities when she arrived.

“The kids were all here for the funeral, and they asked me to come to look at the house,’’ Macaluso stated.

Moreover, one of the family members had asked her to meet with them to discuss what needed to be done before listing the house, which Zillow valued at nearly $900,000.

Macaluso claimed they were in a hurry because two of the relatives had come from Florida for the funeral and were planning to head back soon.

The homeowner, Theresa Martha DeLucia, was 95 years old and had died earlier in the week.

In addition, Patrick Ryder, Nassau County Police Commissioner, stated at the scene. “It appears to be a murder-suicide. We do know that the subject on the front lawn did shoot and kill himself.”

Later, Ryder expressed that the investigators believed DeLucia’s adult son, who lived in the house, was upset about the situation surrounding its sale. He allegedly killed four people inside the home before taking his own life.

A neighbor across the street recounted that the son had struggled with mental health issues and was deeply troubled by his mother’s death and the thought of losing the house where he had spent his entire life.
