The incident began when the truck hit at least one person riding a moped in Bay Ridge. As the police followed, he hit seven other people, including the police officer, who sustained minor injuries. The police were able to stop him after a 30-minute chase.

NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell stated during a news briefing, “Behind us is a U-Haul truck stopped successfully by the NYPD, ending a violent rampage through Brooklyn that left at least eight people injured.”

A surveillance video obtained by The Post shows the truck hitting the back of a moped and sending the driver to the ground before jumping a curb and hitting bikes left on the corner of 72nd Street and Third Avenue.

The video also shows a pedestrian diving to avoid the truck and an NYPD cruiser pursuing it on the sidewalk. The driver then hit another pedestrian as he drove off down Fourth Avenue. The police reported that at least two other moped drivers were also hit during the chase.
