(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is finally taking on a bloated government agency, as the US Postal Service (USPS) agreed to slash 10,000 jobs and cut billions in wasteful spending.

See the tweet below.

The dramatic overhaul, announced in a letter from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to congressional leaders, represents a major victory for fiscal conservatives who have long criticized the agency’s inefficiency and massive financial losses.

The USPS has signed an agreement with President Trump’s DOGE to reform the struggling agency.

This partnership aims to address what DeJoy himself described as a “broken business model” that has experienced nearly $100 billion in losses and was projected to lose another $200 billion without intervention.

Under the agreement, the Postal Service will implement a voluntary early retirement program to reduce its workforce by 10,000 employees.

This follows a previous cut of 30,000 workers in 2021, showing the agency’s continued commitment to rightsizing its operations. The plan also targets over $3.5 billion in annual operating cost reductions.

DeJoy did not mince words about the agency’s challenges. He highlighted several key issues, including miscalculations in retirement plans, mismanagement of the Workers’ Compensation Program, unfunded mandates, and excessive regulatory restrictions that have hamstrung the USPS’s ability to operate efficiently.

DeJoy stated, “Fixing a broken organization that had experienced close to $100 billion in losses and was projected to lose another $200 billion, without a bankruptcy proceeding, is a daunting task.”

He added, “Fixing a heavily legislated and overly regulated organization as massive, important, cherished, misunderstood and debated as the United States Postal Service, with such a broken business model, is even more difficult.”

The partnership with DOGE represents President Trump’s ongoing commitment to reducing bloated government and cutting wasteful spending.

Trump has previously suggested putting the USPS under the Department of Commerce, which would bring it under executive branch control and potentially lead to more accountability and efficiency.

As expected, Democrats and union leaders are already opposing these common-sense reforms. Representative Gerald Connolly (D-VA) called the agreement a “capitulation” that would have “catastrophic consequences.”

Meanwhile, the National Association of Letter Carriers expressed concerns about potential privatization despite the clear need for financial reform.

In his letter to congressional leaders, DeJoy urged them to engage with the Postal Service and DOGE representatives to address these challenges.

He also announced his intention to step down as Postmaster General, seeking a successor who will continue the vital cost-cutting and efficiency efforts that have begun under his watch.

“Last night I signed an agreement with the General Services Administration and DOGE representatives to assist us in identifying and achieving further efficiencies,” DeJoy said.

“This is an effort aligned with our efforts, as while we have accomplished a great deal, there is much more to be done. We are happy to have others assist us in our worthwhile cause,” he remarked.

Ultimately, the USPS-DOGE partnership is a prime example of how Trump and Musk are working together to reform bloated government agencies that have long operated inefficiently at taxpayer expense.

By applying private-sector efficiency strategies to government operations, they are proving that fiscal responsibility and effective service delivery can go hand in hand—despite what big-government Democrats might claim.
