(GoRealNewsNow.com) – The war of words between former President Donald Trump and his former vice president, Mike Pence, escalated to a new high after Trump mocked Pence for having “no crowds, enthusiasm, or loyalty.”
Trump’s comments on Wednesday came after earlier the same day, Pence launched his most scathing attack on Trump over the developments after the 2020 presidential election.
You can watch a video of what Pence said at the bottom of this post.
The former vice president also told Fox News that his then-boss at the time surrounded himself with “crackpot lawyers” that tricked him into reckless behavior, including concerning the January 6, 2021, events at the US Capitol.
The long-standing conflict between Trump and Pence erupted out of January 6, after the then-president insisted that his second-in-command reject the electoral college results from the 2020 presidential election due to alleged voter fraud favoring Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Since then, Pence has maintained that as vice president, he had no power to do what Trump asked.
In his Fox News interview, Pence said Trump’s legal team had told him to “literally reject votes,” which would have left the president’s election in the hands of the House of Representations, thus causing “chaos.”
“The American people deserve to know that President Trump and his advisers didn’t just ask me to pause. They asked me to reject votes, return votes, essentially to overturn the election,” Pence alleged.
Both GOP politicians are presently vying for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. However, while Trump’s support among primary voters is above 50%, Pence’s has been ten times smaller, hovering around 5%.
In a Truth Social post, the 45th President of the United States attacked his former veep by ridiculing him for failing to muster more Republican support for his presidential candidacy.
“He didn’t fight against Election Fraud, which we will now be easily able to prove based on the most recent Fake Indictment & information which will have to be made available to us, finally — a really BIG deal,” Trump wrote.
“The V.P. had power that Mike didn’t understand, but after the Election, the RINOS & Dems changed the law, taking that power away!” he claimed further.
The latest Trump-Pence exchange came before, on Thursday, the former president was slapped with a second federal indictment by the Biden Justice Department for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election.
