The ‘Deadliest’ Beach in America

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – With deadly cold gripping much of the United States this weekend, many are dreaming of a beach getaway. Now, a new report ranks the deadliest beachs in the country.

New Smyrna Beach in Florida has been ranked as the “deadliest” beach in the United States, according to the report from Travel Lens.

With a danger score of 8.14 out of 10, the beach is considered to be more dangerous than other beaches in the country, with a high frequency of shark attacks and surfing fatalities.

According to the report, New Smyrna Beach has recorded 32 shark attacks since 2010, which is twice as many as any other U.S. beach.

In addition to New Smyrna Beach, other Florida beaches also ranked highly on the list, including Cocoa Beach with a danger score of 7.57 out of 10 and Ormond Beach with a danger score of 7.48.

The report explained that Florida was the state most affected by hurricanes, which explains why seven out of the top 10 most dangerous beaches are located in this state.

Panama City Beach was listed as the beach with the highest number of surf zone fatalities, with 24 cases.

The report used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and The Shark Institute to compile the list, taking into account the number of surfing fatalities, shark attacks, and hurricane frequency.

In terms of hurricanes, Florida topped the list with a total of 120 hurricanes between 1851 and 2020, of which 37 were considered significant. Texas was in second place, with a total of 64 hurricanes.

The report highlights the importance of being aware of the potential dangers of visiting certain beaches, especially during hurricane season. While the beauty of these beaches attracts millions of visitors each year, it’s important to stay vigilant and take the necessary precautions to stay safe.
