(GoRealNewsNow.com) – A self-proclaimed “serial killer” in Tennessee who fancied himself as the real-life Michael Myers will spend the rest of his days behind bars as he was sentenced to 261 years, ensuring he will never threaten anyone again.
Joshua Dotson’s reign of terror came to an end when he was convicted last year for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Jamesha Covson, and her unborn child.
The cold-blooded killer received a 102-year sentence for that heinous crime, but justice was not finished with him.
In a follow-up trial, Dotson pleaded guilty to three additional counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Divieon Parker, Renita Bennett, and Reginald Anderson.
He also admitted to three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. For these brutal acts, the court slapped Dotson with an additional 159 years, bringing his total sentence to a jaw-dropping 261 years.
Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Regina Lucreziano did not mince words about the outcome:
“After five years, we are pleased to have justice for Dotson’s multiple victims finally. While no amount of time in prison will bring the victims back to their loved ones, we are content that he will never be a threat to our community again.”
Moreover, Dotson’s twisted psyche was on full display during his trial when he shockingly referred to himself as a “serial killer” and compared himself to the fictional murderer Michael Myers from the “Halloween” movie franchise.
The killer’s attempts to discredit his victims fell on deaf ears. In a despicable move, Dotson tried to smear Covson’s reputation by calling her a “sex worker.”
Yet, the court saw through his pathetic ploy, recognizing it as a desperate attempt to deflect from his own monstrous actions.
The DA’s office said in a release upon Dotson’s conviction:
“The court’s decision affirms that those who commit acts of violence with such disregard for human life will be held accountable. Our hearts are with the family and friends of Jamesha Covson, and we hope this sentence brings them some peace as they continue to grieve this profound loss.”
Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy echoed the sentiment of many relieved Tennesseans when he stated, “We are confident that he will never be a threat to our community again.”
While the wounds inflicted by Dotson’s actions may never fully heal for the victims’ families, this sentencing brings a measure of closure.
It also ensures that this self-styled “boogeyman” will spend the rest of his days where he belongs – behind bars, far from the law-abiding citizens he once terrorized.
