Senator Feinstein Denies WHAT?

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – US Senator Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat, told reporters that she hasn’t been absent from Congress even though she spent two months receiving medical treatment at home in California.

89-year-old Feinstein’s comments come against the backdrop of earlier reports that she has memory and cognitive decline issues and previous episodes in which her words and reactions fueled such concerns.

In March, the oldest member of the US Senate was hospitalized with shingles, causing her to miss over 90 votes, making it more difficult for the slim Democrat majority to pass its initiatives. She returned to the Capitol in mid-May.

Before that, in February, her office announced she wouldn’t seek reelection in 2024, even though she didn’t seem to be aware of the announcement. Feinstein was elected to the US Senate in 1990 and has been reelected five times.

When she was asked by a reporter on Tuesday about the well-wishes she had gotten from her Senate colleagues, the California senator claimed she never left the nation’s capital.

“No, I haven’t been gone,” Feinstein responded, as cited by The Los Angeles Times and Breitbart News.

“You should — I haven’t been gone. I’ve been working,” the elderly Democrat declared further.

When asked whether she meant “working remotely from home,” Feinstein clarified that she had been present in Washington.

“No, I’ve been here. I’ve been voting,” she said.

“Please. You either know or don’t know,” the Democrat senator declared.

After a spokesperson announced Feinstein’s hospitalization in early March, she confirmed the announcement.

“I was diagnosed over the February recess with a case of shingles. I have been hospitalized and am receiving treatment in San Francisco and expect to make a full recovery. I hope to return to the Senate later this month,” the senator stated at the time.

Even though Feinstein came back to the nation’s capital seven days ago, she still missed votes last Wednesday, Breitbart News points out.

Feinstein’s absence was particularly problematic for the Democrats in the Senate Judiciary Committee, leaving it with a 10-10 vote parity.

While on medical leave, numerous Democrat lawmakers insisted she should resign – including Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Dean Phillips (D-MN) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

More than 60 leftist organizations from California also urged Feinstein to step down. At the same time, the editorial board of The New York Times demanded she “should resign and turn over her responsibilities to an appointed successor.”

Last year’s San Francisco Chronicle report claimed that Feinstein’s “memory has so deteriorated that she can no longer fulfill her job duties.”

“[She] cannot keep up with conversations … [and] doesn’t seem to fully recognize other senators and relies almost entirely on staff members,” her colleagues were quoted as saying.
