RFK Jr. Deeply Concerned About Measles Outbreak

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is deeply concerned about the measles outbreak in Texas and urging Americans to vaccinate against it.

Despite his previous vaccine skepticism, Kennedy now calls the situation “a call to action” while promising to bring transparency back to health agencies that many conservatives feel have lost public trust.

In an opinion piece for Fox News, Kennedy emphasized the importance of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine amid a Texas outbreak that has claimed one child’s life – the first measles fatality in the U.S. in over a decade.

The outbreak has resulted in 146 confirmed cases since late January, mostly in eastern Texas.

Kennedy reminded Americans that “virtually every child in the United States contracted measles” before the MMR vaccine was introduced in the 1960s.

While acknowledging the benefits of vaccination, he maintained that personal choice remains paramount.

The HHS Secretary directed federal health agencies to support Texas authorities in managing the outbreak.

However, these agencies face staffing challenges following President Trump’s government overhaul aimed at reducing bureaucratic bloat.

RFK wrote in the opinion piece, “Vaccines not only protect individual children from measles, but also contribute to community immunity, protecting those who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons.”

Moreover, his stance reflects the Trump administration’s commitment to both public health and personal freedom.

He said that “parents should consult with their healthcare providers to understand their options to get the MMR vaccine” while respecting that “the decision to vaccinate is personal.”

The HHS Secretary underscored that under his leadership, the department would maintain “radical transparency” to rebuild public trust in health agencies.

This trust was severely damaged during the COVID-19 pandemic when many Americans felt misled by shifting guidelines and suppressed information.

Kennedy also highlighted the role of “good nutrition” in defending against both chronic and infectious illnesses, a holistic approach to health that many conservatives have advocated for years while establishment health officials remained fixated solely on pharmaceutical interventions.

While mainstream media outlets have attempted to portray Kennedy’s response as contradictory to his previous positions, his supporters see a consistent commitment to informed choice and transparency.

The current outbreak, which has particularly affected a vaccine-hesitant Mennonite community, underscores the importance of clear, honest health communication rather than authoritarian mandates.

Kennedy’s leadership at HHS signals a return to a more balanced approach to public health that respects both the benefits of medical interventions and Americans’ fundamental right to make their own healthcare decisions without government coercion.
