Now: Manhunt Underway

Real News Now Happening Now

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Tensions are high in Florida as there is a manhunt underway for a dangerous fugitive who evaded capture after a brazen escape from police custody and fled in a luxury sports car.

See the tweet below.

36-year-old repeat offender Theodric Collins, with a history of evading police, escaped away from officers at a Miami hospital and is now the subject of a multi-state manhunt.

Collins, who U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) initially arrested at the Port of Miami for multiple out-of-state warrants, complained of chest pains shortly after his arrest. Later, authorities decided to transport him to Jackson Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

After being medically cleared, Collins seized the opportunity to make his bold escape. Despite being handcuffed, he managed to break free from a Miami-Dade officer and flee to a waiting silver Maserati.

The luxury getaway car, sporting Alabama license plates, was last detected by license plate readers in Jupiter, Florida, leaving authorities scrambling to catch up.

While it was important to ensure proper medical care for those in custody, it was equally crucial to maintain strict security measures at all times.

Collins’s ease of escape raises serious questions about the protocols in place for handling potentially dangerous suspects.

“After being medically cleared, at approximately 2:25 pm, the MDPD officer was in the process of taking him to MDPD Warrants Bureau when the prisoner escaped to an awaiting newer model silver Maserati, bearing Alabama tag GBT862 that fled the scene,” police stated.

Still, Collins is no stranger to running from the law. His extensive criminal history includes arrests in Mississippi for felony shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing from police and property theft. In 2023, he was reportedly arrested in Alabama after a high-speed police chase.

As the manhunt intensifies, authorities are pulling out all the stops to recapture this dangerous fugitive. A “be on the lookout” (BOLO) alert has been issued, and a multi-agency search is underway.

Moreover, Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Collins’ arrest, hoping that concerned citizens will step up to assist law enforcement in their efforts.
