NOW: California Will No Longer Do WHAT?!?

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has terminated his state’s business operations with retail pharmacy chain Walgreens after the latter decided not to distribute abortion pills.

Newsom, a potential candidate for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination, stated that California was “done” with Walgreens, which he accused of kowtowing to “the extremists.”

“California won’t be doing business with @walgreens — or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk. We’re done,” Newsom wrote on Twitter.

Walgreens has recently announced that it would not sell abortion pills Mifepristone and misoprostol in states where such medications are outlawed.

It also told Politico that it wasn’t distributing the pills anywhere at present. Still, it planned to apply for a Food and Drug Administration license to sell them in unspecified states.

In February, Walgreens’ announcement came after receiving a letter from nearly two dozen GOP state attorneys general warning the company it shouldn’t sell abortion medications in states with respective bans.

“I will enforce the laws as written. That includes laws protecting the health of women and their unborn children,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey wrote in a letter co-signed by 19 other GOP attorneys general, as cited by Breitbart News.

“The FDA rule is in direct violation of federal law, and the unelected bureaucrats at the FDA have no authority to change Missouri law, either,” Bailey’s letter elaborated.

He was referring to a recent FDA decision expanding the availability of abortion pills by allowing retail pharmacy chains to sell them.

“The people’s elected representatives have spoken on the issue of abortion in our state, and we will fight to uphold that in court,” Missouri’s attorney general added.

Last month, 23 state attorneys general, 67 members of the US Congress, and several pro-life groups joined in a lawsuit against the FDA, asking the court to block its approval of Mifepristone, “the first pill used in a two-step medication abortion regimen.”

The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) initially filed the lawsuit in the US District Court for the North District of Texas in November of 2022. It acted on behalf of four national medical associations and several doctors.

“[The FDA] chose politics over science and approved chemical abortion drugs for use in the United States,” the ADF and its allies declared.

The lawsuit insists that the court should declare unlawful six discrete FDA actions which led to the legalization of Mifepristone and misoprostol in 2000.

“Rather than respect the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and the democratic process, the Biden Administration has attacked and worked to undermine the considered judgments of the elected representatives of States like amici,” stated an amicus brief filed by 22 states in support of the lawsuit – while Missouri filed one separately.

A spokesperson for Walgreens told Reuters the company decided not to provide the abortion pills in the above states because of the warning from their attorneys general.
