(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a chilling reminder of the dangers lurking in online gaming, a 14-year-old missing Tennessee girl was found abandoned in the woods after she met with a stranger.
The young girl, who had been reported missing, was found safe in Louisiana after a terrifying ordeal that began on an online gaming platform.
Alexander Materne, a 28-year-old man, allegedly met the teenager through the game and drove from Louisiana to Tennessee to pick her up.
Materne then took the girl to his home in St. Rose, Louisiana, where they reportedly engaged in sexual acts.
The situation took an even more disturbing turn when Materne, upon learning the girl’s true age, abandoned her in a tent in a wooded area in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
He left her with food and water before cowardly departing to celebrate Christmas with his family in Jennings, Louisiana.
“You can’t make this stuff up. It’s a Christmas miracle that she was found safe. This thing could’ve ended badly,” Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker said.
Law enforcement became involved thanks to the relentless efforts of the girl’s family, who tracked Materne to Jennings.
The suspect cooperated with police and led them to the girl’s location in the woods. She was found and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
“They were the key to all of this, I’m telling you if they want a job, I’ll hire both of these parents as investigators,” Sticker remarked.
Materne now faces a list of charges, including contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, felony human trafficking, carnal knowledge, and aggravated kidnapping of a child.
