(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a shocking display of electoral intimidation, a Pennsylvania man faces federal charges for threatening to kill and mutilate a political party worker.
62-year-old Philadelphia resident John Pollard has been charged with transmitting interstate threats after sending violent and explicit text messages to a state political party representative.
The victim, who was involved in recruiting poll watchers, became a target after posting about their work online.
On September 6, Pollard unleashed a barrage of threats with horrifying messages, which the Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed and included graphic texts of violence and death.
“I will KILL YOU IF YOU DON’T ANSWER ME!” the criminal wrote in one of his menacing messages.
However, the threats did not stop there, as Pollard sent another message that read, “Your days are numbered, B****! GONNA F***ING FIND YOU AND SKIN YOU ALIVE AND USE YOUR SKIN FOR F***ING TOILET PAPER, YOU F***ING KKK**T!”
Moreover, the man was swiftly arrested and appeared in federal court in Philadelphia. He now faces one count of transmitting interstate threats, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted.
While some may argue this punishment is too lenient, it is a step towards protecting the election workers from such vicious intimidation tactics.
The DOJ’s Criminal Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania are handling the case, and the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office is leading the investigation.
Interestingly, reports suggested that Pollard had expressed interest in being a poll watcher himself before sending the threatening texts.
This revelation raises troubling questions about his motivations and the potential for infiltration of election processes by those with evil intentions.
Meanwhile, the case falls under the purview of the DOJ’s Election Threats Task Force, established in June 2021, to address the growing concern of threats against election workers.
While an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, this case underscores the importance of supporting and protecting those who work tirelessly to ensure the integrity of our elections.
