(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Hunter Biden received “preferential treatment” from the US Justice Department in the investigation into his taxes, IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley told Congress.
Shapley, a criminal investigator at the Internal Revenue Service, spoke before the House Ways and Means Committee in closed-door testimony last month.
His testimony was unsealed on Thursday, The Washington Times reports.
The whistleblower told the US lawmakers that during his 14 years on his IRS job, he had “never seen an investigation handled in such a way.”
He stressed that any time a decision was made or a conflict was resolved during the tax investigation, that was done in a way benefitting Hunter Biden.
“I am alleging, with evidence, that DOJ provided preferential treatment, slow-walked the investigation, did nothing to avoid obvious conflicts of interest in this investigation,” Shapley declared.
He revealed that another IRS investigator, whose name in the testimony is mentioned only as “Mr. X,” told him that Hunter Biden’s lawyer threatened he would “end the careers of investigators and prosecutors if they charged the president’s son.”
The whistleblower also presented the US legislators with evidence that Hunter Biden “flew prostitutes” to where he was staying and registered the expenses on their flights as payments to off-the-books employees.
In one case, he made a $10,000 payment to a sex club, recorded as a golf club membership fee. In another case, the first son covered hotel rooms for his drug dealers as deductible expenses.
Shapley informed the House Ways and Means Committee that between 2014 and 2019, Hunter Biden made at least $8.3 million but at least $2.2 million in arrears in taxes. His income assessment for that period included a $142,000 Porsche and an $80,000 diamond.
In another revelation, the whistleblower showed US lawmakers a screenshot from a 2017 WhatsApp message that Hunter Biden sent to Henry Zhao, a Chinese businessman and Communist Party operative, on July 30, 2017.
In the message, the future first son scolded Zhao for missing a payment deadline and emphasized his father, Joe Biden, was in the room with him.
“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” Hunter Biden wrote.
