(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Terror strikes twice as the deadly attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, where a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel, are linked to the rental-car Turo app.
The explosion in Las Vegas, which claimed one life and injured seven others, has sent shockwaves through the nation.
This incident, coupled with the recent New Orleans attack that left 15 dead and 30 injured, has thrust the Turo app into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
Turo, a peer-to-peer car-sharing application launched in 2010, allows private car owners to rent out their vehicles to others.
While the platform requires users to be over 18 and provide a valid driver’s license, recent events have exposed glaring security vulnerabilities.
Joe Biden, addressing the nation from Camp David, stated:
“Investigators are looking into whether the deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans on Wednesday is linked to the detonation of a Tesla Cybertruck outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas later in the day, but they have yet to find any connection between the two episodes.”
“I directed my team to make sure every resource is made available to the federal, state and local law enforcement, to complete the investigation in New Orleans quickly, and make sure there’s no remaining threat to the American people,” he added.
Meanwhile, a Turo spokesperson condemned the attack, saying:
“We are heartbroken to learn that one of our host’s vehicles was involved in this awful incident. We are actively partnering with the FBI.”
“We are not currently aware of anything in this guest’s background that would have identified him as a trust and safety threat to us at the time of the reservation,” they continued.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, Tesla CEO Elon Musk speculated that the Las Vegas explosion might have been caused by large fireworks or a bomb in the Cybertruck’s bed.
This revelation only fuels concerns about the ease with which dangerous materials can be transported in rented vehicles.
As the FBI digs deeper into both incidents, there is growing concern about a possible larger cell of ISIS sympathizers related to the New Orleans attack.
While some authorities consider the use of Turo in both cases a “coincidence,” it cannot be ignored.
As investigations continue, stricter regulations on car-sharing apps and enhanced security measures to protect American citizens must be implemented.
