FOOD RECALL ALERT

BREAKING NEWS

(GoRealNewsNow.com) – Americans’ health is in jeopardy, as an alarming report revealed that sweet treats from several stores across the country are being recalled due to a salmonella risk, which can cause serious illness.

According to the report, the recall affects retailers like Walmart, Target, and Dollar General, where Palmer Candy Company’s “White Coated Confectionary Items” are sold.

The Food Drug Administration said that the company is recalling these sweets because “they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”

“Palmer Candy was notified by its liquid coating supplier that there was a potential for contamination with salmonella from an ingredient that was potentially contaminated from one of their suppliers,” officials added.

Moreover, the recall was given the highest risk level, a class one. Fortunately, there have been no reports of anyone getting sick or hurt.

According to WebMD, “Salmonella is a bacteria that can make you sick when you eat food contaminated with it. The illness is called salmonellosis or salmonella infection, and it’s very common.”

While symptoms include an upset stomach, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramping, most people who get salmonella recover at home within a few days.

“The Palmer Candy Company operates today as not only one of the country’s oldest candy companies, but as the very oldest company of its size to be under continuous family ownership in the United States!” the website reads.

Back in May, over 100 people fell ill due to what officials identified as a salmonella outbreak linked to backyard poultry in 29 states.
