(GoRealNewsNow.com) – In a shocking display of federal overreach and raising alarms over national security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a Tennessee man for allegedly planning to attack a Nashville power facility.
See the tweet below.
Tennessee resident Skyler Philippi’s plot to destabilize a Nashville power facility using C-4 drone explosives signifies the ongoing threat of domestic terrorism fueled by extremist ideologies.
Authorities exposed his plans in partnership with undercover FBI agents and confidential sources. The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged Philippi with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Law enforcement revealed that the 24-year-old man’s intentions were rooted in his affiliation with white nationalist groups like the National Alliance.
Philippi allegedly shared aspects of his ideology and manifesto with FBI officials, one that centered on racial supremacy.
In what he believed was the final stage of his plot, Philippi was intercepted as he attempted to launch the drone he thought carried explosives supplied by undercover agents.
“As charged, Skyler Philippi believed he was moments away from launching an attack on a Nashville energy facility to further his violent white supremacist ideology – but the FBI had already compromised his plot,” Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said.
The meticulous planning included buying materials for pipe bombs and discussing the use of disguises and evidence destruction post-attack. Through thorough research, he concluded that explosives would be far more effective than firearms.
Moreover, FBI Director Christopher Wray emphasized the profound danger posed by Philippi’s racially motivated violent extremist ideology, confirming the necessity for robust protection of critical infrastructure.
Led by its Nashville Field Office, the FBI continues to investigate, ensuring that any further threats are dismantled before realization.
Philippi, facing life imprisonment if convicted, is scheduled to face a federal judge on November 13.
While Philippi remains innocent until proven guilty, this case highlights the ongoing battle against domestic terrorism and the need for collective vigilance.
