(GoRealNewsNow.com) – BREAKING NOW: United States Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who serves as the Minority Leader in the Senate, will remain hospitalized following a fall last night at a Washington DC hotel.
Specifically, McConnell was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening after tripping at a private dinner hosted by the Senate Leadership Fund at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington (formerly the Trump Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue).
McConnell, who is 81 years old, was rushed to the hospital with a concussion and is expected to remain there for several days for observation and treatment.
A spokesman for the senator said, “The Leader is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”
McConnell’s absence will impact the Republican Senate minority as Republicans will only have 48 lawmakers to combat Democrat policies until the senator returns. Democrats currently control the Senate with 51 votes.
First elected in 1984, McConnell became the longest-serving Senate party leader in history after winning January’s reelection as Senate GOP leader. Despite this, ten Republicans voted against him, marking the first time he had received a “no” vote for the leadership position and signaling a shift in the Republican Party away from his establishment agenda.
The nation has faced many challenges during McConnell’s leadership, including soaring debt, illegal immigration, and deteriorating real wages. He presided over the enactment of Obamacare, the 2008 big bank bailout, big tech censorship, and the alleged lies of Dr. Anthony Fauci to Congress without any consequences.
How McConnell’s absence will impact the Senate and the nation remains to be seen. However, his colleagues and the public are wishing him a speedy recovery and hope for his return to the Senate soon.
