(GoRealNewsNow.com) – BREAKING NEWS NOW: Former Vice President Mike Pence will not challenge a judge’s ruling that requires him to give testimony to a grand jury in the U.S. Justice Department’s investigation of the January 6th Capitol riot, according to a statement from a spokesperson for Pence.
The spokesman, Devin O’Malley, stated, “Vice President Pence swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and his argument that the subpoena from the Biden Special Counsel was unconstitutional based on the Speech or Debate Clause was an important one to uphold the Separation of Powers established by our founding fathers. The court’s decision confirmed this principle. Having vindicated this aspect of the Constitution, Vice President Pence will not appeal the judge’s ruling and will comply with the subpoena as the law requires.”
Pence’s testimony could be significant in the special counsel’s inquiry into former President Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.
It is unclear when Pence will testify, but Trump may still appeal the ruling by Judge James Boasberg that calls for Pence’s appearance before the grand jury.
Trump, a leading candidate in the Republican Party for the 2024 Presidential election, is being investigated for his attempts to reverse the election outcome, including pressure on Pence not to certify the election results, which is a largely symbolic role for the Vice President.
Pence refused to comply with this request, leading to a break between the two former political allies.
Pence is also considering a run for President in 2024.
