Specifically, according to Reuters, the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) of Italy has warned organizations to safeguard their computer systems after a large-scale ransomware attack targeted servers worldwide.
Roberto Baldoni, the director general of ACN, stated that the attack aimed to exploit a software vulnerability.
According to Italy’s ANSA news agency, the affected servers were located in France, Finland, Canada, and the United States, with dozens of Italian organizations believed to have been impacted and many more advised to take precautionary measures.
Telecom Italia customers experienced internet issues, but they were not considered related to the attack.
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has announced that it is working with its partners to evaluate the extent of the reported incidents and provide support as required.
